The Art Nouveau building of the 4-star Elizabeth Hotel on the edge of the historic city center, right at the foot of the castle reef, was built between 1900 and 1902 and was renovated several times during its use. As part of the reconstruction of our project production, the building has undergone the most extensive renovation and rebuilding ever, expanding with new premises: hotel rooms and lounges in the attic, a wellness centre, glazed hotel hall and several meeting rooms. These changes were accompanied by demolition works requiring extensive strengthening of the existing structural elements. In the atrium part, the individual segments of the perimeter wall of the lower floors were replaced by newly created masonry pillars, the realization of which was carried out in close cooperation between the structural enginner and the contractor. The heavily damaged timber structure of the roof and ceiling above the last floor was removed and replaced by long-span steel trusses while the original copper roofing was preserved. As part of the reconstruction, underpinning of foundations was also necessary by means of jet grouted piles with systematic monitoring of the settlement of building.
